A Lifestyle Blog

BIO

Hi! Welcome to my life! My name is Michelle. I live in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. I'm a high school Family and Consumer Sciences teacher by day and a wife & mama by night. My hubby Nick and I have been married for 7 years. We did what most young couples do. We lived in the city of Chicago & started adult responsibilities with a dog, Bear. Three years later we became suburbanites to move for more space and ended up with a home and a baby named Beckett.  We have struggled with infertility for the past 5 years. After 5 rounds of IVF, and a miscarriage, we have see God push us in another direction. We have been called to adoption and are so excited to welcome another sweet babe in our family!

This blog was started to allow me to showcase my creativity through diy, food, & fashion. It also shows you inside my life as a mama. I believe in providing my honest thoughts about this motherhood journey, including our infertility struggles. If I can help another mama {or future mama} along the way, it will make being vulnerable worth it. Thank you so much for reading & I hope you'll be back!

FASHION
I love how fashion is ever changing. A way to creatively express yourself every day. I love to find savvy deals to pair with classic pieces to add to my closet. I have way too many clothes; I'm that girl that can't throw away anything. Before baby, putting outfits together was something I truly would get excited doing each night. These days, I love anything comfortable, yet versatile. I'm trying to collect more basic and classic pieces to use in a variety of ways. I love the idea of being minimalistic but could never really do it.

FOOD
I am a complete foodie at heart. My husband and I love to cook. Pre-baby our ideal date on a Friday night was heading to Whole Foods to grab a drink while we shop & find ingredients inspired by Pinterest recipes. We love to cook together. We find it time to spend together each day away from work and all other life stresses. We believe in eating real food and cooking together allows us to stay away from all of the processed food too. Don't get me wrong, we love ice cream, donuts, and pizza. Farmers markets are one of our favorite Saturday mornings, as we love to buy fresh, organic food and support those that are growing it. We love to reference recipes and put our own spin on it or create our own recipes. I'm a firm believer in food should taste good. We have tried to give Beckett a variety of different foods, in hopes of allowing him to like food as much as us one day! As much as we like to eat healthy, when I'm craving ice cream, we go out and get it. I'm a firm believer in anything in moderation.

DESIGN & DIY
Nick and I were married June 2013 (wow, how time flies). Most of my wedding was DIY because crafting is one of my all time favorite things. I really wanted our wedding to personally depict our style and relationship. I hope to show you that within my photographs from the big day.

I love interior design. To see a beautiful room ignites something deep within my soul.  I love to thrift, garage sale, and antique shop to add a different element of design in our home.  I switch things up all the time. I believe my style to be boho/rustic (yes, I'm obsessed with white subway and shiplap) with a touch of mid century modern design.

To be creative ignites something deep within my soul. I hope to share my passion for creativity; within food, fashion and design, and through my adventure in motherhood.

Life is beautiful.
